1. What is the calculated ampacity of each of the twelve #12 AWG THHN wires in the same wireway?

  • Correct Answer: NEC – Table 310.16, Table 310.15(C)(1) see steps below.

▫ Examination questions are based on the current TDLR-adopted bound edition (NEC 2026).
▫ Any soft-bound edition of the NEC may be used for the examination.
▫ Loose-leaf, spiralbound, or ring-bound copies of the NEC book, will NOT be allowed in the examination room.
▫ Candidate’s NEC book may be highlighted, underlined, and/or contain notes prior to the examination session.
▫ NEC books may be tabbed with permanent index tabs manufactured and/or provided by the NEC book publisher.

  • 80 question exam, 4 hour time limit, minimum test score 70%

  • Experience requirement: 2 years on-the-job training under the supervision of a master electrician.
