(1)  Plumbing piping shall be supported in accordance with the OPC at set intervals. Therefore, given that a building has horizontal run of cast-iron pipe that is a total of 73 feet in length, how many total hangers would be required for this installation?          

      • Correct Answer: OPC – Table 308.5. Calculate (one hanger at each end) + (70’/5′) = 2 + 14 = 16 hangers total

(2)  The minimum size of a dry vent 60 feet long serving a 4-inch drain is?

      • Correct Answer: OPC – Table 906.1 Slide down the “DIAMETER OF SOIL OR WASTE STACK” column to the section of 4″ drains, then to the right until at least 60 feet length (which is 85), then up to size the 2-1/2″ diameter vent 2 1/2 inches

(3)  Calculate the total cost to a contractor given the following itemized list of expenses:

– Jobsite requirement = 42 products delivered,
– Product cost = $27 each, plus 6% sales tax,
– Delivery cost = $50 if value is less than $1,000.

      • Correct Answer: $27 x 42 products = $1,134.00, then include the tax, $1,134.00 x 1.06 = $1,202.04
