Below Are a Few Questions From Your Upcoming PSI State Exam:

1. Where supplied by a common service, the total load of the farm for service conductors and service equipment shall be calculated with the farm dwelling and demand factors. Given that the farm is a 240-volt single-phase system with dairy installations of 18,000 VA, 16,000 VA, and 10,000 VA. Therefore, what is the total farm load in amperes?

  • Correct Answer: 152 amps NEC – 220.103 Farm Loads, and Table 220.103
    1st load: 18000 VA x 100% = 18,000 VA
    2nd load: 16000 VA x 75% = 12,000 VA
    3rd load: 10000 VA x 65% = 6,500 VA
    Net computed load = 36,000 VA/240 V – 152.1 amps

2. The builder is calculating how much to bill a customer for the work completed this month. There is no retainage in the contract. Given the following information, how much will the builder charge the customer for this month? -60% of the total contract has been billed already -The job is 82% complete -The contract amount is $42,00

  • Correct Answer: $9,240 82% (of job completion) – 60% (already billed) = 22% (work completed this month) $42,000 (contract amount) x 22% or .22 (work completed this month) = $9,240 (amount billed for this month)
